The Mercado San Agustín (MSA) is Tucson’s first public market. Located at the corner of the Avenida del Convento and Congress Street, this beautiful 15,000 square foot green building is part of Tucson’s expanding city center. The MSA was created in collaboration with Project for Public Spaces (PPS) out of New York City. PPS is the foremost authority on public markets in this country and around the world.
Our 18 small businesses range in size from a 5000 square foot restaurant to 100 square foot kiosks which can be rented by the day. The diversity of businesses range from new start-up’s such as Taqueria el Pueblito to the well established La Estrella Bakery, a long time favorite of Tucson’s south side. Another new and exciting business is the Mercado Kitchen. The Mercado Kitchen provides an opportunity for small business owners to prepare and package foods for resale in accordance with the Health Department's regulations.
The Mercado San Agustin is excited to realize its dream of becoming a successful market that aims to foster the role of public markets in reconnecting local economies and communities and to support the pivotal role markets play in supporting public health and local food systems. The Mercado San Agustín will showcase the region's uniqueness and be a public market that can only exist in Tucson, Arizona.
